Essai Audi Q3 45 TFSI 230 ch

The small SUV of Ingolstadt, the Audi Q3 is renewed and changes from floor to ceiling without forgetting the garage. It evolves radically, what we could verify in Morocco in the region of Agadir, where roads, desert and beaches have served us playgrounds.

A reinvented look!
The Audi Q3 gives a bad old man to his grandfather at all levels, starting with the style. The newcomer appears more imposing, while displaying a much more modern look, in perfect accordance with the other SUV catalog of the brand at Les Rings. The more massive grille once again is revisited.

The overflowing wings and protruding features give it a sense of sturdiness, as if nothing and no one could scare it on the road and elsewhere. In addition the modernity displayed fits perfectly in the century, with tunes from certain angles of e-Tron electric vehicle now available in the range.

The screen finally touch
On board, at the equipment level the touch finally arrives on most of these models. This facilitates the use of Carplay. Alongside this screen, a virtual cockpit behind the wheel. The base ! The presentation appears rather rewarding. Audi still retains some buttons including sound and air conditioning. Appreciable!

We also love the touches of refinement on board, such as alcantara veneers on the dashboard and doors. Just be wary of some colors. The beige ones showed some discoloration. We recommend rather darker colors for them. In the back, two adults can take places easily. Nice progression compared to the first generation. The chest also wins.

Sport Mode = Normal
Our model 45 TFSI (we let you find yourself in the appellations) has a gasoline engine 4 cylinders supercharged 230 hp. Quattro transmission and automatic box of rigor. In short in our hands the best of the range for now. In other words, on the road, it allows us to take advantage of the dynamic qualities of the chassis.

The DSG is rather the job, as long as we ask nothing. Depending on the programs available, we sometimes force the descent of a report to optimize raises. In general, we prefer to keep the sport mode in most driving situations that is close to a "normal". The others seem to have been used mainly to facilitate the homogeneity of consumption figures.

A rather rigorous depreciation
Despite its rather high center of gravity, the new Q3 remains rather firm on its supports, and limits the movements of cases. If the discipline of behavior wins, comfort loses a little. Nothing prohibitive that said, although some will prefer the softness of other competitors. He proved to be an excellent companion during our long journeys on Moroccan roads.

It also marks extra points thanks to its Quattro transmission. For various reasons, we do not recommend sand with an SUV like this, but still know that it will be fine. We were actually quite amused. Simply the microscopic grains are lodged everywhere, even in the workings of the sunroof.

The X1 has to worry about
Today, the Audi Q3 now has all the weapons to better bother the BMW X1, its main rival. With more embedded technologies and benefits coming closer to the best level, it could well prove to be a staple of the market. The place on board could indeed convince many more families than before.

+WE LOVE
  • Nothing to do with the older generation
  • Embedded technologies
  • Quattro
WE LOVE LESS
  •  Amortization a little too rigorous
  • Box sometimes hesitant
  • Switch on the sport mode to avoid overcharging
